BT CrumbleBot Taster Day

On Monday, St Benedict's welcomed Pam and Gwyneth from BT to St Benedict’s.

They ran two engaging and informative workshops training our students to program CrumbleBots. The morning workshop was enjoyed by a group of students from years 7 and 8 that regularly attend Mr Beaumont's lunchtime computing clubs and in the afternoon it was the turn of my Year 12 A-Level Computer Science students.

The workshops introduced the crumble microprocessors and students learned how to program the robots. All the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, they learned about algorithms, developed debugging skills and it was great fun to see code coming to life. They had great fun at the end putting their code to the test in a CrumbleBot grand prix!

Mr Beaumont would like to thank Pam and Gwyneth for providing our students with such a wonderful learning opportunity and looks forward to working with them again when he takes the A-Level Computer Science students to teh BT Discovery day at BT's Adastral Park science campus in March.

Now that the students have been trained they will be able to deliver similar workshops at local primary schools. If you would be interested in St Benedict's students running a CrumbleBot workshop for you please get in touch with jbeaumont@st-bendicts.suffolk.sch.uk
