Response to government schools announcement 18/03/2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

I have watched the Prime Minister and Education Minister’s announcements this evening.

As a school there is a great deal in these announcements that we will need to work out and put into practice. As you will have heard, the school will close for most pupils on Friday and we will be in touch about how we will support home learning for our students after Friday.

In terms of the school after Friday, we anticipate that we will be given more advice about which students the school will need to kept open for and how we will support Free School Meals for those students who are eligible.

I am really disappointed to hear that the exams are to not to take place in the summer and that some other means will be employed for students to gain qualifications. I know that this must be both upsetting and frustrating for many students and that this may make those expecting GCSE and A level exams to feel despondent and I have emailed them this evening. We will do all we can to support learning for all our students and help this to be a merely stumbling block on their academic journeys.

We will be in touch with you as how these announcements are to be put into place, but I wanted to acknowledge the announcement this evening and recognise its implications.

Yours in Christ,

Imogen Senior
Headteacher
