We are incredibly proud of our school and community. Whilst we love sharing our school with prospective students and their families, at present in light of COVID-19 restrictions, we have assessed the specific circumstances of our school and do not feel that we can offer tours or events in school at this time. The protection of our students, staff and our community must be our priority and we have always sought to go above and beyond the requirements and do all that we can to keep us all safe.
We still feel that we have a great deal to share with families remotely and so will be offering a virtual tour, online presentations and activities from staff and students as well as offer some video conferencing with senior staff to families who would find this helpful. We hope that from these opportunities, families will get a clear sense of what it is like to be a student at St Benedict’s. We will make this material available on our website in the coming weeks.
Our school values of wisdom, compassion and resilience guide all that we do. Our decisions must be carefully considered, we must prioritise the needs of others and show care for our community and we have to be prepared to keep going and seek new approaches when things are tough. We hope that through modelling these values in our own actions we help all of our students and prospective students see the value in these messages.
We hope that prospective families will understand that this decision comes from a commitment to the safety of our staff, students and their families and that they will be able to gain a good understanding of what it means to be part of this school. Whilst we will not be physically open to visitors, through the virtual offer we will provide, we hope everyone will see how proud we are of our school, how much we love being here and from that experience, many more students will want to make St Benedict’s the next stage of their journey.
Yours in Christ, Imogen Senior, Headteacher
